Hello and Happy Holidays, Are you ready? Ready for the holidays? Ready for the New Year? Ready to live life to its fullest? I’m not sure I am—but I am excited, as always, for new beginnings and the magic it brings. The photo above is of my dad and me, walking together after Thanksgiving dinner in Grafton, Vermont. It was a winter wonderland, and my heart felt so full knowing my parents, my sister and her family, my kids, and my husband were all together. As many of you know, my dad has Alzheimer’s, so stepping out of his routine can feel like a risk. But thanks to my mom’s bravery, we gave it a try. New experiences can be intimidating, especially when they mix with cherished traditions like Thanksgiving. But we all jumped in—and it was worth it. The best part? My dad joined in on things that might have annoyed him in the past: giggling, singing, and even dancing! Alzheimer’s can be brutal, but it also brings unexpected gifts. Speaking of the unexpected, this year didn’t go quite like I thought —and yet, it was so much more. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who joined me for yoga, whether at Shelburne Museum, Adam’s Berry Farm, or now at the Charlotte Congregational Church. And to the wonderful folks from The Residence at Otter Creek who join me for Chair Yoga each week—thank you for being part of this journey.
